Daikin Mini-Split Installation: The Marietta Owner’s Guide

Most Daikin mini-split installations in Marietta run between $3,500 and $7,500, depending on the system size, the number of indoor heads, and whether your existing electrical panel can handle the load. We stock Daikin-specific components and can usually begin within a few days of your written quote, not weeks. The typical call we get starts the same way: the unit ran fine last summer, and now it’s blowing warm air, making a clicking noise, or leaking condensate across the wall. That’s usually not the compressor. It’s a component that can be replaced, matched to your exact model, and priced in writing before we touch anything.

Which Daikin Models This Applies To

Daikin builds mini-split systems under several series names: the 17 Series, 19 Series, Aurora, Emura, and the newer Atmosphera line. Each series has its own indoor air handler design, and the drain pan, blower wheel, fan motor, and control board are not interchangeable across all of them. The model number on the side of the indoor unit is the only reliable way to identify what you need. It reads something like FTX24NMVJU or CTXS07LVJU. That label tells us the BTU rating, the series, and the revision. We always match by that number, never by memory.

One compatibility gotcha: Daikin changed its indoor board connectors on several 2021 and later models. A board that looks identical on the outside may have a different pin configuration inside, and plugging in the wrong revision will damage it. We verify the revision suffix on the part number before ordering or pulling from the truck. On the OEM versus aftermarket question, for Daikin specifically we lean OEM on control boards and thermistors. The aftermarket equivalents can work, but we have seen too many give faulty room-temperature readings in Georgia humidity. OEM costs more, and it’s the right call on the part that runs the whole system.

Signs Your Daikin Mini-Split Installation Is Failing

  • The unit runs but blows room-temperature air. This is often a failing thermistor telling the board the room is already cold, or a reversing valve issue on the outdoor unit. Both are repairable without replacing the whole system.
  • Water dripping from the indoor head or staining the wall below it. Mini-splits in Marietta pull a lot of moisture out of the air. When the drain line clogs or the drain pan cracks, the condensate has nowhere to go. Left alone, it will damage drywall and flooring.
  • A rattling or ticking sound that changes with fan speed. That is usually the blower wheel out of balance from dust buildup or a failing motor bearing. On Daikin units, the blower wheel is secured with a single set screw that can work loose over time.
  • The unit starts, runs ten minutes, and shuts off. This pattern often points to a failing compressor capacitor or a board shutting the system down on a false high-pressure reading. It is the kind of problem that gets worse the longer it runs.
  • The remote shows a code, or the unit beeps and flashes a light. Daikin error codes are specific. A U4 code means a communication failure between indoor and outdoor units, which is often a damaged wire rather than a failed board. We check the wire first because replacing it costs a lot less than a board.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

In Marietta, a full Daikin mini-split replacement or new installation runs $3,500 to $7,500 installed, and that price includes the outdoor condenser, the indoor head or heads, the line set, the condensate drain, the electrical connection, and the commissioning of the system. A single-zone 12,000 BTU install in a room addition or garage tends to land near the lower end. A multi-zone system with three indoor heads will be near the top of that range. What drives the difference is mostly the number of indoor units and how far the refrigerant lines have to run.

If you are replacing a single failed component rather than the whole system, the cost is lower. A replacement thermistor, drain pan, or fan motor runs in the $150 to $650 range, parts and labor included, depending on the part and your model. You get the written price before we start. We include a written guarantee on the repair, and if it fails within 365 days, we return at no charge under our 365-Day Done Right Promise. No argument, no second invoice.

DIY or Call Us?

There are two things you can safely check yourself. First, clean the air filter. A clogged filter changes airflow and causes half the problems we see on Daikin heads in Marietta. Second, check that the drain line is not kinked or backed up at the end where it exits the wall. Those two checks cost you nothing and rule out the simple causes. Beyond that, this is a high-voltage appliance with refrigerant lines and a charged system. Opening the cabinet on the indoor unit exposes the control board and the capacitor, which holds a charge even with the power off. The outdoor unit is worse. If you are not trained and equipped for that, the honest answer is that it is not a safe weekend project.
